PURPOSE: A method for preparing a substituted hydrazine from a carboxylic acid is provided in the presence of a 1,3,5-triazine having at least one substituent of Cl or F. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises reacting hydrazine or its salt or hydrate, or substituted hydrazine or its salt or hydrate with a carboxylic acid or its salt in the presence of at least one chloro- or fluoro-substituted triazine to produce hydroxytriazine and monoacylhydrazine or substituted monoacylhydrazine having the following formula: wherein R¬1 is a phenyl group, a 5-methyl-6-chromanyl group, a furyl group, a thienyl group, a pyridyl group or a benzyl group having at least one to three substituents independently selected from the group consisting of H, (C1-C8)alkyl, cyclo(C5-C6)alkyl, naphthyl, (C1-C4)alkyl, (C1-C4)alkoxy, (C1-C2)alkoxy(C1-C2)alkyl, (C1-C4)alkylthio, halo and cyano; R¬2 is a phenyl group, a benzyl group or a penethyl group having one to three substituents selected from the group consisting of (C1-C4)alkyl, phenyl, (C1-C4)alkyl, (C1-C4)alkoxy, (C1-C2)alkoxy(C1-C2)alkyl, (C1-C4)alkylthio, halo and cyano; R¬3 and R¬4 are each independently a phenyl group, a benzyl group or a penethyl group having one to three substituents selected from the group consisting of H, (C1-C8)alkyl, cyclo(C5-C6)alkyl, phenyl, (C1-C4)alkyl, (C1-C4)alkoxy, (C1-C2)alkoxy(C1-C2)alkyl, (C1-C4)alkylthio, halo and cyano; M is a hydrogen atom or a metal cation selected from the group consisting of Na, K, Li, Ca, Ce and Ba; n is an integer of 1 or 2; X is F or Cl; each Y is independently selected from the group consisting of F, Cl, R¬2 and OR¬2; and each Z is independently selected from the group consisting of hydroxy, R¬2 and OR¬2. |
