PURPOSE: Apparatus and method for generating an orthogonal code in a mobile telecommunication system are provided to generate orthogonal codes having different lengths depending on various symbol rates. CONSTITUTION: A signal power mapping part(111) demultiplexes an input symbol data to a first channel signal and second channel signal and simultaneously converts a level of the input symbol data. A memory(112) temporarily stores an information on the length of the orthogonal code which becomes different depending on the symbol rates of the respective channels, an index of the orthogonal code which is assigned to the channel, and a chip count value, respectively. A control part(113) reads a variable value about the generation of the orthogonal code from the memory and provides the read variable value to an orthogonal code generator(114). The orthogonal code generator generates an orthogonal code corresponding to the length information of the orthogonal code, the index of the orthogonal code, and the chip count value which are provided by the control part. Thus, the apparatus can generate orthogonal codes having different lengths without extending the capacitance of the memory. |
