摘要 PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display that displays visible images by controlling the orientation of a liquid crystal disposed between a pair of transparent electrodes is disclosed. CONSTITUTION: In the liquid crystal display, resistors (8, 13, 18, 28, 40) used to change the voltage to be applied to the liquid crystal are formed directly on the transparent substrate (1a) from ITO etc. One or more resistor branches (8a) of the resistor pattern (8) are cut by a laser beam to change the resistance of the resistor pattern (8), thus regulating the voltage applied to the liquid crystal. In addition to the resistor pattern (8), peripheral circuits including capacitors may also be formed directly on the light transmitting substrate (1a). The peripheral circuits may be formed in areas interposed between the pair of light transmitting substrates (1a, 1b). Forming the resistors and other peripheral circuits on the substrate of the liquid crystal panel can reduce the overall size of the liquid crystal display.
