PURPOSE: A phenate detergent and a salicylate detergent are provided to be useful for a diesel lubricating additive for ship and to have a high TBN and /or a high TBN:% surfactant ratio. CONSTITUTION: Phenate detergents and salicylate detergents with high TBNs and/or high TBN:% surfactant ratios are useful marine diesel lubricant additives. Herein, the detergent can be induced from more than two surfactants of sulfurated or non-sulfurated phenol or the derivative thereof and a different surfactant from a phenol surfactant while including the surfactant system being induced from the surfactant.
