DIGITAL CAMERA APPARATUS AND RECORD METHOD

PURPOSE: A camera apparatus is provided to correspond to a MPEG format without increasing the number of processing steps and the circuit scale. CONSTITUTION: The camera apparatus comprises a video encoding portion for encoding a video signal received from a pickup device corresponding to a first encoding method or a second encoding method and generating a first video data or a second video data thus encoded, respectively; and a control portion for controlling a process of storing data to a memory and for selecting the first encoding method or the second encoding method corresponding to a selected record mode, wherein the control portion controls the video encoding portion in order to encode the video signal corresponding to the first encoding method when a mode of recording only video data is selected; and wherein the control portion controls the video encoding portion in order to encode the video signal corresponding to the second encoding method when a mode of recoding all of the video and audio data is selected.
