The jet engine uses hydrogen or helium to minimize transmission of sound frequency harmonics. The turbo-jet engine for an aircraft includes a central hub (1) supporting supersonic blades (2) rotating inside the jet air intake (3). In order to reduce the noise produced by the aircraft, a supply pipe (5) is provided leading through the body of the jet casing to a manifold (4) with slots (6) which open into the inlet space at the front of the jet engine. An ultra-light gas is supplied through this pipe in order to emerge in front of the rotating blades. The gas may be hydrogen or helium and is introduced via a standard width slot around the whole of the perimeter of the inlet. |
