A contact lens cleaner has its inner volume divided by a flat catalytic component with apertures into two separate reaction chambers (14, 15). The catalytic component is in the form of a ribbed disc, shaped so that it prevents virtually any circulation of the decontaminating oxidant solution between the second and first chambers while ensuring a controlled de-gassing of the solution in the second chamber solely through the apertures in the component which form preferably 10-20% of its cross section.
