An image heating apparatus includes a heater (6) which is stationary in use; a film (1) slidable on the heater; a backup member (2) cooperable the heater (6) to form a nip (N), with the film (1) being interposed between them, an image carried on a recording material (P) being heated through the film (1) in the nip (N) by heat from the heater (6); and a feeding interval controlling device for varying the recording material interval (D) with which the recording materials are consecutively fed.
