METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING POWER IN DISPATCH SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for controlling power in dispatch system is provided to reduce transmission power of forward link broadcasting channel when a power request access message is not received to a base station. CONSTITUTION: In a dispatch system, a power of forward line broadcasting signal transmitted from a base station is controlled to minimize power level and to stop transmission of a forward link broad coasting channel when any unit is not situated. The base station monitors an access channel. A first remote unit(10) receives and decodes the forward link broadcasting signal. The first remote unit(10) decides signal quality of the forward link broadcasting signal and transmitting a power request message when the signal quality is not accepted. The base station responses the request by increasing a transmission power of the forward link broadcasting channel. The forward link broadcasting channel is slowly reduced to a minimum value when any request signal is not received in the base station.
