PURPOSE: A digital still camera and image data processor are provided to reduce time demanded to extend an image data. CONSTITUTION: A 8-bit luminance data of two block and 8-bit color difference data of one block are repeatedly outputted from compression/extension a unit and provided to a buffer memory. A stored 16-bit data of two block are generated correspond to the 8-bit luminance data of two block and the 8-bit color difference data of one block, and stored in a frame memory by successively providing from the buffer memory to the frame memory with a block unit. The luminance data and the color difference data are stored in the frame memory by a 16-bit data.
