The sensor has a lead element (1) to hold conductive core wires in a metallic outer cylinder (1a). A temperature sensitive element (2) is connected to an end of the core wires. The temperature sensitive element is positioned in the fluid flow. A seal element (5) is formed over the whole outer circumferential surface of the outer cylinder and is held in close contact with the hole to prevent fluid flowing out of the hole. The sensor has a lead element (1) to hold conductive core wires in a metallic outer cylinder (1a). A temperature sensitive element (2) is connected to an end of the core wires. Conductive wires (4) are connected to the other end of the core wires. The sensor has a device for inserting the lead element into a hole in a section of wall which defines a channel in which a fluid flows. The temperature sensitive element is positioned in the fluid flow. A seal element (5) is formed over the whole outer circumferential surface of the outer cylinder and is held in close contact with the hole to prevent fluid flowing out of the hole. A protective element (6) covers the connections between the wires. This is coupled with the seal at a section of the seal which is further from the channel than the coupling between the seal and the cylinder.
