A leak-sealing material consists of a thermoplastic or reactive plastic or plastic blend, or a mixture thereof with low-molecular weight and unreactive substances, which can be molded in situ to fit the shape of the leak and then becomes highly viscous and finally solid after not less than 30 seconds and not more than 120 minutes. Independent claims are also included for (a) leak sealers consisting of leak-sealing material as defined above and possibly another component; (b) leak sealers consisting of thermoplastic material as above in the form of strings, sheet, film, fibers, fleece, plugs, wedges or blocks, and possibly another component.
