Cooling girders (3) are directly positioned on an articulated pipe (13) that pivots in a rotating bushing (10) of a column formed as a water channel. The articulated pipe is operated by a pivoting cylinder (15) via a guide rod (14). Each cooling girder has a switching valve (4) on its inlet region. Apparatus for cooling rolling stock (1) within the mill train of a rolling mill comprises water injectors (8) fixed between rolls (2) of a roller table (9) below the rolling stock, cooling girders (3) pivotally arranged above the rolling stock with switching valves (4) for cooling water, and a central water feed pipe.
