The covering device has an opening spring and a lock for the flap, e.g. a tank cap covering flap. The lock includes a locking member and a drive for it. The opening spring (2) to move the flap (1) is at least roughly laid out in its fully open position. The lock (13), opening spring and turning bearing (3) are in the same region close to the circumference of the flap.
