Sawblade beds (20, 30) are mounted on a top bed axle (21) above the top side (11b) of the timber piece (11) being cut, and on a bottom bed axle (31) lying beneath the timber feed plane (X-X) formed by the timber guide devices (12-15), so that opposing pairs of sawblades on the top and bottom axles are vertically aligned. The diameter ratio between the first and second sawblades with respect to the timber feed direction (S) is 0.1-0.7 (0.3-0.5). The ratio between the cutting depth (h2) of the first (smaller) sawblade and the thickness (h) of the timber piece is 0.1-0.5 (0.2-0.3), and the remainder of the timber thickness is cut with the second sawblade. Lateral guides are also provided for the timber pieces. |
