A pharmaceutical composition for treating or preventing an elevated blood lipid level-related disease such as hyperlipidemia, arteriosclerosis, angina pectoris, stroke and hepatic diseases in a mammal, which comprises an effective amount of rutin, quercetin or a mixture thereof as an active ingredient together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, and a food o r beverage composition for such a disease, which comprises an effective amount of rutin or quercetin.
