The fitting machine transports workpieces from one work station (36) to another. It includes a drive unit (31) with a cam transmission (44, 46) on a shaft (43), with a control ram (48) driving the work station. The shaft can turn in a bearing (39) in a cover plate (17) and another bearing (51) connected to the drive unit. The shaft with at least two cam cylinders can be dismantled and assembled without dismantling the bearings.
