Foam material as an expandable material(11) is first applied in expandable form and then by heat application expanded in the space between the reinforcing member(10) and outer skin(13) of the door. The expanded material fills out the space and produces a connection between the reinforcing member and door outer skin. The expanded material has elastic properties so that with deformation of the outer skin a restoring force is exerted upon it to return it to its original form. An Independent claim is included for a procedure to manufacture a body part in which an expandable material is introduced into the space between a reinforcing member and outer skin, and then expanded by heat application to produce a connection.
