The mechanism consists of a base body (1) in which a lever mechanism (2) is arranged, with articulated joints between the ends of the lever mechanism and the base body. At least one of the joints allows both a translation and a rotation, and the other of the joints allows a rotation. A shape memory element (3) is arranged between the end points of the lever mechanism with fixing elements (4), such that when the shape memory element contracts, the lever mechanism is moved and its joint deflected so that the drive element is moved, producing an actuating movement. The shape memory element is typically heated using electric current.
