Casing (1) and lens (2) are integral, in optical material. An Independent claim is included for the method of making the casing. Optical material is heated and pressed to form a lens. The projecting edges are formed to the required shape of the casing. Preferred features: Inside the casing, grooves accept a substrate (3) at the focal plane. A digital camera employing the casing, has a focal plane covered by an image sensor. A tubular section is allocated for the sensor (4). The tube clips to the lens. To complete the casing, its optical transmissivity is reduced to zero, by painting or other internal and/or external treatment.
