A car has a sliding roof movable between an opening and a closing position and a windshield washing installation that contains a pump controllable via a switch. Devices are provided which let operating signals for the pump (4) generated by the switch (5) become effective only with the sliding roof (2) found in the closing position. With a sliding roof movable by hand, activation of the switch for the pump with the sliding roof found in the opening position leads to the generation of a signal inside the car. With a sliding roof movable by a motor, the devices contain a logic circuit (7-15) that can be activated by operation of the switch for the pump.
