Hydroformylation of at least an unsaturated olefin compound by carbon dioxide and hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst containing at least a transitional element and at least an organic inorganic salt in liquid phase is claimed. The salt of general formula Q<+>A<-> where Q<+> is a quat. ammonium and/or phosphonium and A<+> is anion chosen from a group formed by hexafluorophosphate, hexafluoroantimonate, hexafluoroarsenate, fluorosulphonate and tetrafluoroborate, does not contain tin or germanium and is liquid at temperature less than 90 degrees C.
