<p>A shotgun choke (1) characterized by multiple, radially-arranged, longitudinal blades (10) having blade edges (11) of selected size and shape for contacting and scoring a wad (25) containing the shot in a shotgun shell, causing the wad panels (26) to open upon expulsion from the shotgun barrel falling short of the shot string (23). The displacement blades (11) constrict the wad containing the shot effecting random constriction forces on the encapsulated shot, define linear gas relief passageways (14) and score the wad linearly to facilitate a rapid opening of the wad panels (26) upon ejection of the wad, such that the shot string continues to the target. Ports (8) are provided in the shotgun choke and connect to the gas relief passageways (14) to reduce recoil.</p> |
