IMPROVED ADHESIVE BONDING OF STRINGS OF POCKETED COIL SPRINGS

A method and system for manufacturing a spring core (10) by adhesively bondi ng strings (12) of pocketed coil springs (14) together utilizes a moving adhesi ve applicator (28) for depositing adhesive onto a moving string (12) of pockete d coil springs (14). Subsequently, individual strings (12) are adhesively bond ed to similar strings (12) to form the spring core (10) of pocketed coil spring s (14). The moving applicator (28) may take one of any number of various embodiments which include reciprocating movement, rotational movement, pivot al movement and/or linear translational movement for spraying a pattern of adhesive (22) onto the moving string (12) of pocketed coil springs (14).
