A ring oscillator is operated from two negatively correlated supply voltages, instead of from the usual one supply voltage. An auxiliary supply voltage VDD2 is generated from the supply VDD by means of an inverting amplifier, such that VDD2 decreases if VDD increases and vice versa, m stages of an n-stage ring oscillator operate from VDD2 and the remaining stages from VDD. This arrangement reduces the oscillator's frequency sensitivity to fluctuations in supply and/or substrate voltage, therefore, the frequency exhibits less jitter due to the noise in these voltages. |
