Apparatus for preventing fluid moving up a conduit in an oil or gas well, which apparatus comprises a length of production tubing 22 , a narrowbore conduit means 27 attached to the production tubing 22 , a pressure communication means 30 for communicating pressure between the production tubing 22 and the narrowbore conduit means 27, an optical fibre pressure sensor 2 attached to an optical fibre cable 25 , and a flow preventor means 35 and the apparatus being such that the optical fibre pressure sensor 2 and the optical fibre cable 25 are disposed within the narrowbore conduit means 27 , the production tubing 22 contains fluid, a the flow preventor means 25 restricts the fluid flowing from the pressure communication means 30 into the narrowbore conduit means 27.
