<p>A cricket stumps observation system comprises two pairs 10 of video cameras 12, one video camera 12, of each pair 10 being located at the edge of a cricket pitch in line with one end of the popping crease 14. Each pair 10 of video cameras 12 is electrically connected to cricket stumps 16 associated with one of the popping creases 14. The electrical connection between a pair 10 of the video cameras 12 and the cricket stumps 16 is arranged such that when bails of the cricket stumps 16 are knocked from the cricket stumps 16 an electrical signal is sent to the corresponding pair 10 of video cameras 12 which causes a display 17 connected to the video cameras 12 to display a freeze frame picture of the crease 14 at the instant when the bails are knocked from the stumps. The stumps and bails can be electrically conductive or can comprise light sensing means (22 Fig 3).</p> |
