<p>This invention pertains to a device for preventing an accelerator from being erronesouly operated when an accelerator pedal of a motor vehicle is erroneously pushed down in spite of a brake pedal being intended to be pushed down. There is provided magnetic coupling means (30) comprising an accelerator interlocking member (26) interlocking with an accelerator pedal (14) and having a magnetic attraction plate (32) mounted thereon and a throttle interlocking member (28) connected to a throttle cable (18) and holding a permanent magnet (38) to magnetically attract the attraction plate (32). When the accelerator pedal is pushed down, the throttle cable (18) is pulled through the magnetic coupling means (30) so as to make the degree of opening thereof larger, which causes the motor vehicle to be accelerated. When the accelerator pedal (14) is erroneously pushed down in spite of the brake pedal being intended to be pushed down, the attraction plate (32) is separated from the permanent magnet (38) to release the magnetic coupling condition thereof. This prevents the throttle valve from being oepned and therefore the motor vehicle from being accelerated. <IMAGE></p> |
