PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To selectively obtain the subject compound by reacting a specific prochiral olefin compound with a specified diazoacetic acid ester compound in the presence of a specific copper complex. SOLUTION: This method for producing an optically active cyclopropanecarboxylic acid ester of formula IV comprises reacting a prochiral olefin of formula II (R1 to R4 are each H, an alkyl or the like) (preferably 2, 5-dimethyl-2, 4-hexadiene) with a diazoacetic acid ester of formula III (R5 is a 1-6C alkyl or the like) in the presence of a copper complex obtained by the reaction of an optically active bisoxazoline-based ligand of formula I (R is H or a 1-3C alkyl) with a copper compound [preferably copper (II) trifluoromethanesulfonate] at 0-50 deg.C. The compound of formula I is preferably used in an amount of 1-2 moles based on the copper compound. The copper complex is preferably used in an amount of 0.0005-0.01 equivalent time (as converted into the copper compound) based on the compound of formula III. |
