PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exhibit a prescribed sealing performance even if a mounting groove having a small width, compared with the height is formed on a flange constituting a seal surface by setting the fastening directional thickness of a metallic casing larger than the radial width thereof, and forming it in an elliptic sectional form. SOLUTION: A metal hollow ring is a metal hollow C-ring, and is formed of a ring-like coil spring 11, metallic inner casings 13, 13 arranged on the outside of the coil spring 11 with a space, and a metallic outer casing 12 arranged on the outside of the metallic inner casings 13, 13. The metallic outer casing 12 is formed with the fastening thickness (a) larger than the radial width (b) before fastening. When the fastening directional thickness of the metallic outer casing 12 before fastening is (a), and the radial width is (b), the ratio of a/b is 1.1<a/b<=2.0, preferably, 1.2<a/b<=1.7, and more preferably, 1.3<a/b<=1.4.
