METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DECOMPOSING BROMIC ACID BY UTILIZING PHOTOCATALYST

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and stably remove bromic acid ions in water by photocatalytical reaction. SOLUTION: A liquid to be treated containing bromic acid ions is injected into a photocatalytic reaction tank 11 and a powdery photocatalyst or a photocatalyst supported on a carrier such as glass or the like is charged in the liquid to be treated. A stirrer 12 is provided in the photocatalytic reaction tank 11 and driven by a magnetic stirrer 13 to stirr the liquid to be treated in the photocatalytic reaction tank 11. When the liquid to be treated is injected into the reaction tank 11, the pH of the liquid to be treated is preliminarily adjusted so as to become an isoelectric point corresponding to the kind of the photocatalyst to be utilized. A light soure (lamp) 14 is provided in the reaction tank 11 and this light source 14 is set so as to emit light having energy of the band gap of the photocatalyst or more. The light source 14 is housed in a lamp protective pipe 15 and immersed in the liquid to be treated in the reaction tank 11. The light source 14 is allowed to light by a lamp stabilizer 16 and the photocatalyst is irradiated with light due to this lighting.
