PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a stepping off at night and to enhance safety during ascending/descending by providing a light source at a predetermined position at the lower surface of a front end of a stepped plate of each stairs to enhance a visual recognition of the edge portion of the stepped plate. SOLUTION: A light source 3 is mounted at an approximately center position in a width direction at a lower surface of a front edge portion 21 of a stepped plate 2. In the case where a handrail is provided, the light source 3 is mounted at a position approached to the handrail and illuminates at least range at which a person places a foot. At this time, a contrast of brightness and darkness of a front edge portion 21 and other portions of the stepped plate 2 is provided by illuminating the stepped plate 2 such that the front edge portion of the stepped plate 2 becomes dark and other portions become bright to enhance a visual recognition of the edge portion and a recognition of a border of each step can be easily and certainly carried out. As the light source 3 a flat type LED having a small size and a wide range of direction angle is preferably used. Thereby, an adjustment of a desired position and an illumination angle can be facilitated without impairing a beautiful appearance of the stairs and the light source 3 can be mounted at a cheaper cost. |
