PURPOSE:To provide the multi-terminal optical switch which switches a plurality of light beams propagated in a free space at a high speed by utilizing the polarization of light. CONSTITUTION:Plural multi-terminal optical switches 5 and 6 are used for the multi-terminal optical switch which has polarization plane control element arrays and optical path converting elements arranged by turns and controls the polarization states of the light beams to switch them and which multi- terminal optical switch an inputted light signal is inputted to is selected by switching through high-speed optical switches (e.g. waveguide type optical switches 3 and 8 using electrooptic crystal) to improve the switching speed. |
