PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine virus inactivation ability to obtain a blood derivative safe against a virus by repeatedly adding a test virus during an inactivation method and adding together individual reduction coefficients of one inactivation method so as to obtain a reduction coefficient of total viruses. SOLUTION: A test virus (e.g. AIDS virus, etc.), is repeatedly added during at least one inactivation method. In order to obtain a reduction coefficient of total viruses, individual reduction coefficients of at least one inactivation method are summed up to determine virus inactivation ability. A blood derivative safe against a virus is obtained by treating a blood derivative with an aqueous solution containing at least 2% surfactant and carrying out an inactivation treatment such as heating in a solid state, etc. The blood derivative has at least 50% biological activity based on the activity before the execution of the inactivation of infectious substance according to at least 40 reduction coefficient of total viruses and is inactivated against the infectious substance.
