摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power consumption of a personal computer and to miniaturize it by using a LED for the power source of illumination of a liquid crystal panel, in a note type personal computer mounting a liquid crystal panel. SOLUTION: LED lamps 13R, 13G, 13B of three colors of a LED light source 12 are made to emit light, red light, green light, and blue light emitted from each LED lamp are made to incident on a scattering plate 11, they are mixed by scattering in the scattering plate 11, emitted from a whole surface of the scattering plate 11 as white light LW, and it irradiates the whole back part of a transmission type liquid crystal panel 10. White light LW made to incident on the liquid crystal panel 10 is modulated conforming to alignment of liquid crystal materials, and transmitted through a color filter of an opposing substrate. A user can visually recognize transmission light LT of the liquid crystal panel 10 as color video.
