PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an insect pest-controlling agent that is useful for controlling insect pests, particularly for controlling fleas by using an insect growth regulator and a specific caranediol as active ingredients. SOLUTION: This insect pest-controlling agent includes, as active ingredients, (A) an insect growth regulator, preferably selected from pyriproxyfen, methoprene, fenoxycarb and the like and (B) a carane-3,4-diol, for example, 1S,3S,4S,6R-carane-3,4-diol. In a preferred embodiment, the weight ratio of the insect growth regulator to the carane-3,4-diol is 1/3-1/5,000, more preferably 1/10-1/1,000. This controlling agent can inhibit eggs of flea from hatching and is useful for controlling flea.
