PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-optical recording medium recording and reproducing device of which a recording and reproducing head is compact as well as simple and is capable of recording/reproducing to/from a double-sided magneto-optical recording medium. SOLUTION: A transparent base substance 41 of an magneto-optical recording medium 40 is 0.1-0.6mm thick, and a magnetic field generator 9 is arranged between an objective lens 2 and magneto-optical recording medium 40. For this reason, a structure, which contains the objective lens 2, the magnetic field generator 9, etc., is simple and small, compared with a composition in which the objective lens 2 and the magnetic field generator 9 are separately arranged on both sides of the magneto-optical recording medium 40. Moreover, even when there is a limitation in strength of the generated magnetic field, a necessary magnetic field can be applied to a double-sided record layer of the magneto-optical recording medium. |
