PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnifying device that surely and simply magnifies desired information contents while moving on an object. SOLUTION: The magnifying device 10, which is positioned on desired information contents being an object of magnification by the user to magnify the desired information contents, is provided with an information contents range indication section 13 that indicates a range of the desired information contents of the object including the desired information contents and placed on the information contents range indication section 13, an image pickup means 30 that reads optically the information contents of the object set within the information contents range indication section 13 and picks up its image to provide an output of a video signal, a grip section 24 in common use with an image pickup means support section that supports the image pickup means 30 at an interval with respect to the information contents range indication section 13 and is projected from the information contents range indication section 13 to be gripped by the user, a power connection section 24 that connects electrically an external power supply 70 to the image pickup means 30, and a switch section 17 that applies power to the image pickup means 30 via the power connection section 24.
