PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing carbohydrate solution and sugar along with pulp of good quality from millets such as sugar cane, sweet sorghum, or the like, in consideration of the fact that conventional pulp from millet-strained lees after pressing carbohydrate solution out of millets such as sugar cane, sweet sorghum, or the like has low strength and poor freeness and is of poor quality. SOLUTION: Sugar cane, sweet sorghum, or the like are fibrous raw materials of good quality. Because carbohydrate solution is produced in the state that raw material plants are severely damaged in a conventional method, fibers are cut into shortened ones and have been no longer of good quality before subjected to extraction in a cooking process. The method of this invention is to cut raw materials at an angle and on a parallel with one another and to crush them for the purpose of producing carbohydrate solution and securing the fiber length of bagasse (strained less). It is possible to produce pulp of good quality by separating and removing pitch from the bagasse and then by treating rind through various kinds of cooking methods. When employing esp. PA method, it is possible to produce pulp of good yield and quality, it is easy to recover alkalis and to reclaim chemicals and it is possible to provide a total system where pulp is produced without hardly causing pollution.
