PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of securely blocking gaps generated at various places in a structure in fluctuation of a building frame caused by earthquake or the like. SOLUTION: A gap blocking device 1 is constituted of a blocking member 4 made by coupling together the tips of a plate member 2 and a shaft member 3 in a rotatable manner, a locking member 5 consisting of an L-shaped angle fixed to a overlapped portion with an end wall 104A in a structural body 100, and a spring member 6 one end of which is fixed to a place close to the tip of the plate member 2 and other end is fixed to a place close to an outer side of the bottom surface of the end wall 104A. Therefore, if the structural bodies 100, 101 fluctuate to one side in a Y-direction, a cross handrail walls 104, 104 are rotated with hinge means 105 as a shaft, as a result of this rotation, the plate member 2 of the block member 4 is pushed out (by the principle of a lever) by the locking member 5 and this plate member 2 is used for covering the gap 106.
