PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record an image having high quality and superior in gradation representation even when a plurality of inks in the identical color series having different concentrations is adhered on substantially the same position on a recording medium to form one recording dot. SOLUTION: When recording is performed by using and ejecting a plurality of inks having different concentrations from an ink jet recording head, an elapsed time from the previous ink ejection is calculated. A concentration change of the ink along the elapsed time is predicted based on the calculated elapsed time. The ink and the ejection quantity thereof suitable for representing density values designated by input multiple value image data is chosen based on the predicted concentration change of the ink. A recording head is driven such that the ink is ejected from a recording head based on the chosen ink and ejection quantity thereof.
