PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lengthen the equivalent length of a fluid passage without enlarging a U-shaped tank. SOLUTION: This U-shaped vibration damping device of a fluid type, has fluid 5 enter a U-shaped tank 1 consisting of a horizontal part 2 and vertical parts 3, 4 connected to both its ends and has the fluid 5 accord an alternately moving period with the number of vibration of an object structure for damping the vibration. In that device, parts with a partially small cross-sectional area are provided on the vertical parts 3, 4 of the U-shaped tank 1.
