PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably perform releasing operation of temporary locking in an advance position of a holder. SOLUTION: A spring holder 25 for housing a fitting detecting coil spring is arranged in a female housing 11 so as to be slindable in the longitudinal direction, and a locking claw 56 on the tip of a holding arm 54 is elastically locked on a hooking part 60 projected on the outer peripheral surface of the main body part 12, so that the holder 25 is temporarily locked in an advance position. This temporary locking is released by allowing the front edge of a male housing 1 to abut to the locking claw 56 just befor completely fitting both housings 1, 11. Perticularly, the hooking part 60 is arranged in the corner part of the upper surface of the main body part 12, and the holding arm 54 is arranged in an oblique posture so as to be lockable on it. Even if both housings 1, 11 are twistingly fitted when the male housing 1 is put in a relatively forward lowering posture, the front edge of the male housing 1 abuts to the locking claw 56, and can be dissociated from the hooking part 60.
