PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antistatic film for a spacer and a display device which uses it, having high stability and good reproducibility. SOLUTION: In this image display device, an electron source substrate 1 provided with plural cold cathode electron emission elements is made to face opposite a transparent substrate 4 provided with a luminous material through a spacer 10. This antistatic film 10c for an image display device for coating the surface of an insulating member 10a of the spacer 10 uses a zinc oxide film, a mixed oxide film composed of zinc and one of transition metal elements, or a mixed oxide film composed of zinc and one of lanthanide elements. That is, in this method, the balance between heat generation and radiation in the spacer 10 is kept by means of semiconductor properties and a low negative resistance temperature coefficient of the antistatic film 10c.
