PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of restricting the deterioration of the image quality of a reproduced image, in particular a character image, to the utmost while preventing color slippage by correcting displacements. SOLUTION: Registration marks are formed at the front, center, and rear of a transfer belt, and they are detected by a displacement detector, (step S1, S2). On the basis of a black-image writing position, an amount of the displacement of each of other colors is obtained from the detected signals, (step S3). Then, on the basis of yellow-, magenta-, and cyan-image writing positions, an amount of each displacement is obtained (step S4). All the obtained data on the amounts of the displacements are stored into an EEPROM, (step S5). When an image is formed, the color as the basis for displacement correction is specified based on the color information of an original-document image, the data on the amounts of the displacements of the other colors with respect to the specified color are read from the EEPROM, and the displacements are corrected based on the amounts of the displacements.
