PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect current pulse interruption, and suppress the pulse interruption based on the detection. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a voltage generating means 3 for applying pulse voltage to a clearance between an electrode 1 and a workpiece 2 facing each other to perform electric discharge machining, a pulse interruption detecting means 10 for detecting that pulse current is interrupted when pulse voltage is being applied after the pulse voltage is applied to make pulse current flow, a comparison means 11 for counting the total pulse number Non of the clearance, counting the pulse interruption frequency detected by the pulse interruption detecting means 10, and comparing the total pulse number Non to the pulse interruption frequency Ns, a changing means 3 for changing the electric conditions of the clearance, and a control means 12 for changing the electric conditions of the changing means 3 based on the comparison results of the comparison means 11.
