METHOD FOR ESTIMATION OF PLASTIC OPTICAL FIBER, PLASTIC OPTICAL FIBER AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a plastic optical fiber excellent in the uniformity of mechanical property, and good in transmission characteristic. SOLUTION: In a plastic optical fiber after the production, the fluctuation (Δd) in a fiber diameter is made within <=2% for the fiber diameter(d). Relation represented by formula I is satisfied between the fluctuation, (Δd') in the fiber diameter and the fiber diameter(d') after test heat processing is performed so that the plastic optical fiber is not deformed at a temperature of not less than a drawing temperature but not exceeding a spinning temperature.
