PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make path search fast by storing first map data that is used for display where a road shape is approximated and second map data that is made of a node data or the like regarding the node of the intersection of a road in a storage. SOLUTION: In a navigation device 1, a CPU 3 directs a CD-ROM device 5 to read map data at a desired region via a communication bus 4 in response to an input operation to an operation key 2. A CD-ROM disk 8 (storage means) stores first map data that is used for display where a road shape is approximated, and second map data that is made of node data regarding the node of the intersection of a road and data for connecting the nodes of the intersection of the road. For example, when two points for performing path search are specified, one and the other are set to start point and end point, respectively. Then, second map data including the start point is read and path search is started with the start point as a start. |
