PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a moving picture coding method and a moving picture decoding method where scrambling and compression coding are properly applied to a video image that is subjected to 3:2 pull-down in a DVD or a digital broadcast and the copyright is protected and viewing can be limited. SOLUTION: In the case of receiving a video image that is subjected to 3:2 pull-down, a redundant field eliminating section 103, a scramble section 107, and a compression coding section 109 conduct elimination of a redundant field, scrambling and compression coding in this order. Furthermore, a watermark information embedding section 108 embeds information relating to a scramble key to the video image as electronic watermark information between the scrambling and the compression coding process. Thus, a correct video image is restored even from a 3:2 pull-down video image, and scrambling and compression coding are conducted without deteriorating a coding efficiency and reproduction or copying by methods other than the normal method is prevented. |
