Chromosome 1-linked prostate cancer susceptibility gene and multisite tumor suppressor

A human gene which is here named HPC1 has been identified in which mutations have been found which have been correlated with prostate cancer. The gene comprises 15 exons which have been sequenced. Transcripts of this gene have multiple splice variants which theoretically can lead to several thousand splice variants in accordance with certain rules which have been determined concerning the splicing of this gene's transcripts.
